    The history of Sirop de Liège goes back to the beginning of the last century, to 1902. Clément Meurens, the first in line with that name, decided to leave the parental farm to become a "real craftsman of syrup for sandwiches " to become. He wants to do more than just make syrup for the people in the neighborhood. He sees it bigger: he dreams of selling his syrup on a large scale and uses major resources. To make those dreams come true, he sets up his poaching facility in Aubel, next to the railway and close to the station. Immediately at the start, he notes that thanks to the railway he can easily stock up on supplies and that he can also sell his products just as easily.
