    When making our jams we draw on more than 130 years of family tradition. We have to go back to 1868 where the origins of our company lie. Great-grandfather Theo started an apple syrup factory at the Oosterhout ferry house De Altena, on the Waal, which his son Jan later expanded. In 1883 he also started making jam on a small scale. In 1901, a factory, the Bato, was established in the village center of Oosterhout, where Betuwe fruit was processed into jam and other related products from then on. De Bato closed its gates in 1975, but Theo van Woerkom's blood runs deep and he started our current company in 1984. Since 2001, the family tradition has been continued by Theo's daughter Guusje, who has been working in the company for more than 10 years at that time. Since 2006, the company has returned to the village center of Oosterhout.

    Our jams are the only ones in the Netherlands that are prepared and filled completely manually according to traditional experience and recipes. A careful quality selection takes place during the purchase of the fruit. Only the best fully ripe fruit are eligible for our products. For example, fruit from our own region is processed during the season. For further preparation we use only the purest raw materials such as fine granulated sugar, fruit pectin and lemon juice. We add absolutely no glucose, preservatives, colourants, aromas or flavorings to our products.
