Ultimately, this resulted in The Best Licorice Ever with real coffee. And Klepper & Klepper are very happy with and proud of this new flavor. But it didn't exactly go without a fight.

Coming up with licorice with coffee is one thing, actually making licorice from it is something else.
The Best Licorice Ever must meet a few set-in-stone requirements: it contains no gluten and
gelatin and the base consists of fresh ingredients. So real ingredients instead of artificial flavors.

For the Best Coffee Drop Ever, Klepper & Klepper wanted to use real coffee. That seems simple (make an espresso, add it to the liquid licorice, let the mixture solidify and dry and you're done), but it turned out to be easier to think than to do. Due to European laws and regulations, you cannot simply put coffee in your liquorice.

After a long search and an endless series of experiments, Klepper & Klepper have arrived at a system with which fresh coffee is brewed under perfect conditions and then immediately frozen. This way you get long-lasting fresh coffee that you can easily process in your liquorice. And which also complies with all laws and regulations.
